Where the Heart Is

The two cultists that had been chasing Lani and the brothers walk through a garbage dump lit by streetlights. Stacks of garbage are piled as far as the eye can see. Soon enough, they come across many other cultists, each of them busying themselves with incredibly mundane things like playing cards and talking to each other.

CULTIST 1: "Remind me again why the boss lady called everyone over here?"

CULTIST 2: "No clue. It's gotta be something big, though."

CULTIST 1: "You think?"

CULTIST 2: "Sure. I mean, we all know how much she hates rain. She wouldn't come out here if she didn't have to."

CULTIST 1: "Good thing it's stopped raining then, eh?"

Both cultists stop in front of an abandoned bus. A figure is sitting on top of it, and both cultists bow at the waist.

CULTIST 2: "Madam Marino."

CULTIST 1: "Unfortunately, Ms. Difonia was once again a step ahead of us. We lost her."

The figure on top of the bus, Madam Marino, pushes herself up into a standing position.

MARINO: "Really?"

She looks down at the pair from her perch scornfully. Unlike them, her mask has more than three points on it.

MARINO: "I hadn't noticed."

Cultist 1 elbows Cultist 2 in the shoulder, making him chuckle.
