Where the Heart Is

Ísja and Num get comfortable in bed, Ísja having folded his poncho and put it into his satchel. He stretches his arms in the air and yawns while Num busies himself with his own poncho.

Lani stands in front of the calendar, watching the pair with a pensive expression.

LANI (thinking): "There's no way they came from out of town. It wouldn't make sense."

She picks up a pen and crosses out another day on the calendar and adds yet another tally mark.

LANI (thinking): "No way in, no way out. That's how things are supposed to be here. The rains have made sure of that."

Outside, the rain continues to patter.

LANI (thinking): "But..."

The rain slows to a stop. A couple pairs of boots step through a puddle, leaving ripples.

LANI (thinking): "What if there really is a way out?"

I think I yawned a good 15 times while drawing that first panel... On another note, though, I'm going to be busy for the next several days due to Thanksgiving, so there will not be a Thursday update this week. See you all next Tuesday!
