Where the Heart Is

Lani looks away sadly.

MARINO: You wouldn't benefit from having her around. Even her sibling got tired of dealing with her. Trouble follows her like the plague–

NUM: Trouble you orchestrated.

Marino's hand that's holding the harmonica drops to her side. Her grip tenses around it as she turns her attention toward Num.

MARINO: ...What was that?

Num becomes angry. Ísja looks over at him nervously.

NUM: All of this has been your fault. You're the one who sent people after her. You're the one who somehow drove her sibling to "leave"–

We zoom in on Num's narrowed eye.

NUM: ...that is the term you're still using to describe it, right? Are you sure you didn't abandon them somewhere in the city and leave them to die?

We zoom in on Marino's mask.

NUM: ...Are you sure you didn't kill them yourself?

The observing cultists have begun talking amongst themselves.

NUM: You want to talk about using people? Fine. Then acknowledge that you've used everyone in this room from the moment you met them. You've even used Lani. No matter the reason for Nerez's disappearance, she became a convenient excuse to make an example out of someone in Nerez's stead.

NUM: I can't stand people like you. I bet you don't even see anyone here as people.

marino you've been poking the theoretical(???) bear in the cage with a stick for too long. time to receive the consequences of your actions!
